D7100 and Proboscis Question

I am sure someone else has experienced this problem. I have a D7100. I am a left eye shooter. I am having a problem while shooting my nose moves the focus points on me. Anyone have the same problem? Any suggestions? Shooting right eye is not an option I have tried and a Nose Job is out of the question

Once you set the focus points can you lock them so the won't/can't change?

Only thing I can think of is trust autofocus, I do, since my
vision is not good enough to focus with the viewfinder. The
autofocus works great on my D7100.

Ether that... or remove the nose.
Whichever option is easier.

:-D

Don't remove the nose! Try teaching the nose better focusing techniques instead.

I think there are extenders that you can get for your viewfinder to alleviate the problem. This could be as simple as a rubber eyecup which B&H sells.

Here's one that looks like it will do the job and also magnifies at the same time.

This one does not magnify.

Correct! That answer wins by a nose!

Or instead of removing the nose, you could have someone "flatten" the nose for you too.

Is there a magnifying eye cup for those of us who wear glasses? I can't see the whole viewfinder as is, and find it impossible to use manual focus as no amount of diopter adjustment makes focus clear with or without glasses. Auto focus works fairly well, but images are never really sharp until I use PP

I too was a left eye shooter. I solved the problem by just forcing myself to use my right eye and in a short time I now find using the left eye feels wrong. Another point I too wear glasses so the eyepiece on the camera does not work perfectly with either eye.

I'm left eye also and never could figure out why my focus point kept changing. Now at least I know why. Tried back button also but kept sticking my finger in my right eye.

Right eye is no good for focusing and don't use live view while hand holding.

I guess I will have to find a left handed camera!
