Hello I am looking for software to keep a record of miles gas , any expense used to travel to take photo and a record of clients information.
I use Microsoft Excel. Has worked for over 5 years keeping track of mileage with running totals etc. You need to learn how to program the formulas into the cells, but that doesn't take long.

Recommend that you do your own in Excel ... a little work to get started but you will never find anything off the shelf to fit your exact needs ... !

I agree with the suggestions re Microsoft Excel. However Intuit's QuickBooks is a more complete business-tracking package capable of automating tax payments, depreciation, assets, liabilities, net worth, etc. Intuit tech support phone reps (I was one for several years) will work with you to set everything up as you need it now and will point out tips to grow the database as your needs expand.

I use Excel as well. If you like, PM me & I'll email you my template. It's taken me a couple years to work it out to where I like the way it works but, now all I have to do is put in the basic information & the rest is calculated for me.
I'd agree with everyone on the Excel way to go. Why use a database with front end programming and form design when a simple spreadsheet would suffice?
I've just returned from a campervan holiday, 91 days and 8510 miles and used a spreadsheet to keep check of miles, mpg and stops along the way and it worked brilliantly.

I'd not recommend a database for this application. I'd recommend a spreadsheet application. You can always incorporate the results of the calculations in the spreadsheet into the database, if you so desire.

I've been using this auto program for years, and I love it. Although it's designed for cars, I'm sure you can enter info about clients.

Excell is "NOT ONLY" about numbers. . . .
U can attach a "word cloud" to any cell [DOES NOT REQUIRE ENTERING DATA INTO CELL HOLDING NUMBERS... USE TEXT IF U WISH] and add a note or other comment. It can be viewed/not viewed with just a [right MOUSE click] . . choice box appears . . (13 or 14 choices) click on insert comment ] . . .
I created a sheet '20 yr old Dodge Dakota'... 'ALL ABOUT MAINTENANCE... DATE,SOURCE,COST,ESTIMATES . . COMMENT ETC. . . . SEE ALL INFO ON ONE SHEET.... NO MORE THUMBING/LOCATING/READING QUOTES, INVOICES ETC.
NOTE: I create a new EXCELL file [with new name i.e. 'TRUCK 6-1-15' ... next save file name will be 'TRUCK 6-23-15' ... WHY? . . I save 2 copies. One to the hard drive on computer and the second to a "STICK DRIVE"... $10 or $12 dollars...NEVER TRUST UR' COMPUTER... THEY HAVE MINDS OF THEIR OWN1
'HAVE FUN'

I use Microsoft Access and Excel. Access is a very good DB and Excell is a good spreadsheet that interfaces with it. My Access is also connected to my Quick Books which does all of my book keeping including generating invoices, processing credit cards etc.
If you happen to use Open Office or Libre Office, their spread sheet is slightly better than Excel--it works like the old Lotus 1,2,3. Even at work I used Lotus up until Excel 97 which operated on a Lotus license. The open source has as much computing power as Microsoft and the files do not take up as much space as the proprietary garbage in Excel.
If you want something simple and free, just create an account with google and use their Google Sheets. It's a simple spreadsheet that you can add formulas to for calculating mileage etc. I use it for mileage to and from my Workers Compensations doctors and the pharmacy. I can calculate how much they owe me so I know what I should receive from them. The great thing about it is that you can access it from your smart device any time and update it. You can also save it and open it from any MS Excel program too.

Remember that Steve Wozniak once said, "Never trust a computer that you can't throw out a window".

Does it have to be 'mobile'? Do you use a smart phone or tablet?
