These are 4X crops, at ISO 1000, SS 1600, F6.3. SS was not quite enough to stop the action, but close...these little birds are fast!!

These are great little birds, and very nice captures of positions not normally seen. I posted a similiar one in another thread. The first time we really took note of these little guys was several years ago - we were feeding the critters sunflower seeds on a log slab. This little fellow was sitting on the edge of the slab picking out what he wanted when a pine squirrel jumped up on the slab. The nuthatch immediately lifted both wings, just like Count Dracula in the old movies. From that moment on he became "The Count" to us. It was probably quite a while after that before we learned the difference in the White-breasted, Red-breasted, and Pigmy Nuthatches. They are all great fun to watch.
