Looking for a good over all lense for my cannon eos 70 D Camera. Macro or Telephoto.

I have the 18-200 also, but the OP is looking for a Macro, While the 18-200 will taken"close ups" and when cropped will "look" like a macro but it still is not a macro lens.

I bought the same 60D package w/ the 18-200 lens.
I just love my Canon EF-S 18-200 ! It is my favorite lens on the cropped camera's !!
That will give you the extra zoom you want! Adjusting for the crop factor on a cropped camera, the zoom is 320mm.

Sorry to put my 2 cents in late but gone all day. I like the Tamron 28 to 300mm. Mike Moats who is one of the best macro teachers uses a Tamron 18 to 300 mm.

I wouldn't mind comparing the Tamron 18-300 next to the Canon EF-S 18-200.

Tamron 16-300mm VC PZD claims to be able to focus to about 15" and give about 1/3 life size magnification. That's not truly macro, but is better than most zooms that typically only get to about 1/5 life size magnification.
