Just moved into the A6000 form the Nex 5T. The A6000 has a different hot show on it and can use more common flashes so I would like to know which ones people here recommend.
Thanks in advance.
Probably the best would be a Sony. I have had good luck with Metz and have heard great things about the Yongnuo.
Why would you say the Sony. If they are truly better I would consider one but they are a whole lot more expensive.
I mentioned the Sony because it is to be used on a Sony camera. I would think that of all the flashes available for that camera, the Sony flash would be the one that was "tailored" to the camera.
Buy the adapter and use you're old flash........
Well, I am sure that the Sony flashes work well on Sony cameras but their expense is way out there compared ot what's available.
I have had very good success with a Metz AF52-1 on my Alpha 850. It should work on your A6000 with an adpater to go from the older Alpha mount to the newer Multi-interface mount.
I agree with a Metz flash and I have one for my Pentax but the size is overpowering for the Sony A 6000. I bought the Nissin i40 for Sony a few months ago. It is scaled to fit the A6000 and I have used on several nightclub event shoots and it is amazing!!! The flash is also very light weight and balances well on A 6000.
THe Nisson is one that I am considering. The other is a Meike 320 TTL unit. I don't now enough about any of these units to know is the Nisson, which is more expensive, is actually a better unit..

You can shoot a standard hotshoe flash on the a6000, but not with any automatic capability. To my knowledge, only Sony makes a flash for that particular "Multi-Interface-Shoe" Same problem with external microphones for video. I do use my Yongnuo flash on my a6000, but only in manual mode.
This is one of the Sony weaknesses. They try to make everything proprietary. Remember Betamax? Then their incompatible memory stick. Then they have changed the standards on the MIS for different cameras.
My a6000 makes great pictures, but all the accessories are incompatible.
My mistake was buying the A6000 thinking they were using a more universal hot shoe but apparently they are not.
The SONY flashes are hard to figure out for me. They make a lot of them. I have no idea what is best for my use since I am unfamiliar with any flash technology.
You would think that as popular as the SONY A6000 is there would be lots of aftermarket choices for a flash by now.
