Final point. There are plenty of white people working at and for the NAACP in high level jobs and doing good work. Let me know if there are any blacks, Jews, Catholics, or gays that are members of the KKK.

Well, you are correct on one thing...I AM comparing the NAACP to the KKK....BOTH ARE RACIST GROUPS and have NO Place in Society as long as they persist in that terrible agenda. As for "Large" numbers of unarmed blacks killed by police....that is simply NOT TRUE. You are either trying to promote lies or terribly uninformed. If you are using your point of reference, the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri....You picked a poor example. Michael Brown was nothing more than a street thug that assaulted and tried to kill a police officer. He died as the result of that decision, made by him. Those are facts, on official public record.....Shortly after Michael Brown was killed a St Louis Police officer shot and killed a man in South St. Louis. The rumor mill immediately started the rumor that the man was unarmed and only had a sandwich in his hand,,,,,All Lies.....The man had in his possession a stolen gun and was shooting at the officer with it. The gun was even in a photograph listed on the man's Facebook page...being held by Him. Racist agendas do not usually partake in the truth, and when it is presented it is rebuked because it doesn't fit into the racist's agenda. You can present your tirade all day long, but what you are failing to notice is that the very thing you accuse me of you are guilty of....You do not know my inner feelings EITHER. I've spoken them, but you refuse to acknowledge them.
Well, you are correct on one thing...I AM comparin... (show quote)

YoungEsqr,

Your quote "... America is a very racist country and doesn't appear to be getting better." suggests that you are either too young to remember the 40's, 50's and 60's or you have developed a selective memory to put those years out of you mind. Even the President admitted on National TV the other day that relations have come a long way since those days. They are not 'cum-by-ah' perfect but a hell of a lot better! Do you think there was any chance of Colin Powell or Condalisa Rice being Sect, of State 40-50 years ago, or Pres. O'bama getting nominated much less elected even had he been prepared for the position or even Bobby Jindal elected Gov. of Louisiana in the deep South??? Racists of all colors still exist and there are occasional tragedies like the Bible study killings last week by a mentally incompetent nut, but they are the exception, not the rule, despite what what the gun control freaks and the racial conflict promoters claim.

You, young Sir, need to do some research on the last 150 years history, before you go making idiotic condemnations of an entire country!

I stand by what I said and most people that say things are better, also say we have a LONG way to go.
President Obama didn't get elected because he was black or at least most people that voted for won't admit it. He was elected because Cheney/Bush had gotten us so close to the cliff, that most white people, if they voted, had no wherelse to go BUT Democratic.
Powell would have been elected if his wife wasn't so afraid that he would have been shot and killed by Republicans, no doubt. His wife threaten to leave him if he decided to run. Racism is alive and very well in this country.
I won't comment on Condi Rice. "If one doesn't have anything nice to say about someone........."
We've had black mayors and governors around for sometime. Check out NY, MA, and CA. So what is going on LA is no big deal.
I remember segregation and was around in 1954 when it was ruled illegal. I also served in the military and shared foxholes with white men. When the military was non voluntary, people of all colors and religion would train and share canteens and not care whose lips were last on it.
Today, most people might work with someone of a different color or religion, but after work, they get in their cars and go back to their homes and rarely have friends of a different color or religion over for dinner.
You can look at things with a glass that is half full, if you want. I chose to look at it the other way and SAY so. Doesn't make you right or me wrong and it doesn't make you wrong or me right. I was born in the 40's and see things going on today that should not be happening. I disagree with the President, also. It is not quite the 'norm', but it is getting there, as oppose to getting better. You can wave the flag and look at things through your rose colored glasses and make your idiotic statements, also. It doesn't make them any more valid than my statements.

Apple just pulled their game app of the civil war. They are talking of moving a confederate general and his family out of their final resting places in a prominent park so the flags on their memorials don't disturb people. If we pretend history never happened, soon it and it's lessons are forgotten to future generations. We cannot cleanse ourselves of our history by denying it.

A ha, a voice of reason! Neither can we bury history by not teaching it or white washing the truth about what happened. Oops, bad idiom under the circumstances of this thread; oh well!

I've been around long enough to see the manifold improvements that the "young Sir" chooses not to recognize.

I propose a ban on white sheets! Every time I see one it makes me think about the KKK and their reign of terror. Ban all medical experimentation or medical research because that's exactly what the Nazis did to their prisoners. It goes on and on. Bunk. Pure bunk. Study it, learn from it, don't turn away from it. Be proud of progress and ashamed of retreat but don't turn away.

If you had said that there are some black people that are racist and that there are lots and lots and lots of white people that are racist, I would have agreed with you. I would have also agreed with you that America is a very racist country and doesn't appear to be getting better. But to compare the NAACP to the KKK and how the racist people in those organizations go about their business, past and present, is ignorant and you are showing your ignorance. I am correct on more than just one thing and you are wrong on more than one thing.

On the killing of unarmed black men and people with mental issues by white police officers AND the same officers getting away with it, I stand by it happening in large numbers or far often than it should. I'll even bet that the officers involved have been involved with prior shootings. I know too many officers that have retired in Baltimore, D.C., Atlanta, and Detroit that have never fired their weapon after 20+ years and in some cases, never pulled it. They worked in dangerous cities and worked drug undercover. Ferguson is NOT one of them. HELP!!!!!
Look at the case in Madison, WI where a white cop shoots an unarmed black 17 year for punching him in the face and shoots him 7 times all in the front. Look at the white cop that shoots the black boy holding a toy gun in Cleveland. Look at the white cop that shoots the black boy for holding a recently purchased air rifle and talking on a cell phone in a Walmart. While you're at it, show me some cases where BLACK police officers have shot and killed WHITE boys/men under similar circumstances. Those are MY points of reference. Now you come up with something other than Ferguson, which you and I both know that there were lies going all over the place there. I'd suggest you look at the so called grand jury proceedings and the so called honest county attorney there.
I've worked as a prosecutor in TX and have seen first hand how cops get when their cases wouldn't go forward for obvious legal reasons.
If you had said that there are some black people t... (show quote)

After working in Law Enforcement for 38 years, I can tell you first hand that the media has inflated police shooting incidents. I've seen televised and print accounts of incidents that I personally witnessed and there was hardly a shred of truth to the entire report. As for the Grand Jury and the Prosecutor from St Louis County over the Police shooting.....You are so far off base in questioning his ethics and his handling of the inident.....I have a poor opinion of lawyers in general and I would NEVER question that man at all. If you are a lawyer you should be familiar with the Grand Jury Process and I would suggest you look into Missouri Grand Juries prior to making yourself look like a blithering UnSchooled idiot before you speak on a subject. The community activists, NAACP, Reverend Al, Jessie Jackson...all wanted a different outcome and to the point where there would have been no due process involved. They were demanding that the officer be arrested and charged with Murder, even though the facts were unfolding which showed nothing to sustain a charge. You know, "Obvious Legal Reasons." As for Ferguson not being a dangerous city....BUZZZ...Wrong! Your statement about knowing many officers that have neither drawn their guns nor shot them in the line of duty, even in dangerous cities....Interesting comment.....I doubt the validity of the statement, because if it is true then I certainly would not want to work with those people....They are putting their lives and the lives of fellow officers at risk. I do know that the majority of officers do not shoot their guns in a career, however it is a tool for officer/citizen safety, so never drawing it as a precaution tells me that the people were either dangerous to themselves and others or assigned to jobs where they were rarely or never in harms way.....or worse yet, should not be in law enforcement to begin with. As for the tragic incidents involving police shootings of people with toy guns or pellet guns.....On the street now, kids are encouraged to remove the orange plastic that would signify that it is not a fire arm....also you are showing a bias in that you are judging something you have never done. Go out and take some training at a local law enforcement agency which involves making split second decisions on the use of a gun in limited light, or stressful situations while responding to the reports of "Armed or Suspicious People." I've been there and done that and thank God, my decisions were correct and no one got hurt. One particular incident I was involved in was while walking a beat in an area rife with daytime burglaries in South St Louis. I was stopped by a resident and told that someone was in the back yard of a home, that had previously been broken into....The resident told me he did not recognize the individual he had seen as being from the neighborhood. I was walking toward the back yard when a kid jumped from behind the house and pointed a very real looking revolver toward me. I drew my weapon, ordered him to drop the weapon and he complied. Turned out it was a kid playing hooky from school, and it was a toy gun. It would have been heart breaking had I shot him and either seriously injured or killed him....but, it would have been justified under the law and I'm glad I didn't shoot him....but had he not complied with my demands he could have died. Am I prone to side with law enforcement???? You bet your sweet bippy I am.....I know the rigors of the job and the stress they are subjected to.....and over the course of my career I have known racists cops...citizens...lawyers...Judges....and more.....but I have met far more honorable people than bad ones. The position that only white people can be racist...which the media promotes....is, simply put, Wrong.

So well said imntrt1. Sorry to say, I am not a fan of cops...personally. Our behaviors and temperaments class badly; however, professionally, I admire them and the work they do each and the situations they are forced into. It's nice to see that some people understand that others are cops because they aren't equipped to handle the job and danger and make decisions on the spot that will effect lives. Thank you for speaking out and so frankly. Carry on...........

I am Yankee, but Robert E. Lee is as much a part of the North's history as he is of the South's, so why are they trying to eradicate him from our heritage? This reminds me of the ancient Egyptians who, for whatever reason, tried to erase kings who came before them by vandalizing the hieroglyphics on their tombs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but rednecks come from Southern U.S. and
Alabama is in Southern U.S.

So,

1. "I would like to see all rednecks put on a slow train to Alabama", is an oxymoron.

2. Transporting people to their own location (as you would have it) would
have no impact on the average IQ... despite the fact that you think the reverse.

If someone entertains multiple oxymoronic concepts (bravo for achieving that infamous feat in one sentence), like you, their IQ is obviously substandard, and you were transported to Alabama, then the average
IQ may be lowered there.

Still the resulting median IQ would be greatly higher than your's, probably by at least three standard deviations.
