We have secured the house and the garage and no coons will be able to enter. I hope they go elsewhere.

I learned thirdhand that some of my neighbors may be putting food out for the raccoons and skunks because the critters are "cute."

And apparently when people feed their cats out on the patio, front yard, etc., both coons and skunks love cat food and will scarf it up and return for more buffets the next night.

I didn't realize that pellet guns are strong enough to actually kill things like raccoons, which according to websites, can get up to 60 lbs or so for a well fed adult male.

A coworker here in Olympia recently asked the Dept of Fish and Wildlife how to dispose of raccoons he had trapped. The answer was 'drwoning.' Can't shoot them or poison them. My solution was not lethal however. I keep a paintball gun by the door and pick off the adults. It hurts like hell so I don't want to shoot the young-uns. They learn after only a couple of attempts.

Great idea. Active harassment works.

Just an FYI, coons, frozen whole or skinned, go for a nice price per animal on the Taxidermy.net site. I've bought several in the past.

How much would you pay for a truck load?
