We were near Ellensburg Washington way up on top of a hill overlooking the valley below! A long dark dirt road to travel in the dark but well worth the trip!

Thanks! I noticed that I have some long stars from camera shake due to the high winds though! My friend that I was with has a much better tripod and his don't have the long trails. We were both shooting at the same shutter speed so I know that wasn't the problem. A new toy is on my shopping list!

You just need to get out when they are and be willing to loose a lot of sleep! Thanks!

Great picture. Where was it taken. I am in Alaska and traveling here for the next 4 months or so. Looking to take some northern light pictures myself.

Actually, I just saw in the thread where you were. It is still too light here in Alaska I think to look for them. Maybe when I get to Fairbanks in August or so.

That's a photo to be proud of, and you didn't have to travel to Alaska either. Can you tell me what your settings were?

Beautiful photo. I would love to see the Northern Lights but not possible here in SE Florida. Maybe when we go to the Grand Canyon in September. What settings and lens were you using for the shot?

So exciting,LB, and I'm so envious! I did not realize that Washington was far enough north to see the Aurora B.

Addendum--just read above post that you are in Alaska. I'm still envious.
