No need. At Ft Monmouth, NJ, after work I did part-time hours at the Asbery Park Press as a lino-type operator.

We made the tapes (8 baud) and the typesetter used it for setting type.

Seems that we need a lot more law enforcement to catch those video thieves. By the way, does anybody here know how to do that? I do not. Must be why I spend so much at Amazon to buy DVD's of the things I like. One benefit - no search and seizure knocks on my door at 6:00 A.M. Just saying...

linotype I think. I had a metal account in the fifties.. the company folded (Freeport,NY) while I wuz in the army (ours,I think) and a lost a coupla hundred pounds of metal.. long before 8 level tapes (ascii) even existed I think..

Really brings back memories for me. I studied print shop functions for three years in high school, 67-69, working the Linotype machine, platen presses, bindry work and offset printing and hand setting type. Loved it at the time. i recently came a cross a California Job Case at the garage sale for 25.00. Snatched it up real quick.

yeh, I had a 7x11 Pearl in the celler, (GMC Jobber) set type in HS for 62.5 cents an hour, ran c&p/miller, c&P w/rice, 1250 multi.. early '50's... all those skills are useless today, but at 16 I had a (for then) highly marketable skill set..in an hour I could hand feed 2500 envelopes, including stocking.... times change, now the best skill for today seems to be drug dealer..(stepping stone to the WH,GBG) sigh.... Not at all surprised that they were still teaching print shop in the late sixties.. In that time frame a got a call from one of my old print shop owners,"hey,Ed,I wanna retire, want the business?, take it over and pay me what and if and when you can"..."Aww, I got two kids, cant take the risk" (he could not sell it) BTW they are still teaching wet photography in schools...on our dime....
