This is a series taken of a young woman, year 1993?. I was asked by a friend of mine to take her picture, so I did.
I did only close ups and there is reason for that. About a year earlier she was in car accident caused by her drunken husband. He divorced her two months before I took the pictures, leaving her with a child that was 5 at the time. Common hard-luck story. Problem is, he was uninjured in the accident and she became quadriplegic. The nine months or so they were still together, he was running after other women as she was "ugly".
Now that the background story is out, this is what I came out with. Ambient light from a low window, no flash, no reflector.

Wolf, as usuall they are, like all of your work, outstanding but you missed one pose - Look Inside. All beauty cannot be touched by the human hand.

Thank you Wolf. She is a beauty. You are right on three points: 1) This is a teaching thread, maybe it should be called so. 2) You gave us a photo tip about close up portraiture. 3) You gave us a lesson in humanity, more of us should look past the obvious to see the undeniable beauty.

Good observation, serves the sucker right!
My wife & I were asked to photograph kids of a local Daycare Center , as part of a benefit to raise money for the Center.
We were thrilled to do so.
Several of the kids were disabled. A couple parents' asked that we not share any photos of their children, for specific reasons, and we understand and support them all the way in their decision.
We were happy to have had the opportunity to meet, and enjoy these kids lives for one morning.
The included photo, is one of those little angels.
This little girl has some very serious health issues.
And, if you can see a little child, who is as innocent as anything can be, and know she will probably be gone in a year, you gain a perspective on life.
Great topic English_Wolf, thank you!

EW you chose the best place to take those photos. I photoghaphed weddings for 39 years and never failed to take a photo of the bride to be at a window with only avalable light. It always tunned out to be the photo that the bride and her mother liked the best. Hay you really do have a heart after all. Keep up the good work you got a lot of new friends after that posting.
I think the power of the photos lies in the cropping, it is hard for me sometimes to fill the rectangle with just a portion of the face, there is an instinct to get the whole head in the composition. And then doing the cropping aesthetically is not easy either.
She is so beautiful, what a jerk. How is she now? Oh yes, very nice shots :D

I do not know, the last I heard of her was in 2001 when Loic told me she had moved to a full care facility after her son was taken from her.
