Bob, I had three uncles in the army and two in the navy All five told me to go in the navy. Warm place to sleep every night and three decent meals a day. I also got to go to machinest mate school in Grate Lakes. Helped my in my work choice. I retired In 93 after 39 years as quality control manager in the tool & die dept in the aerospace inds. I owe it all to my time spent in the service.
