I am thinking of purchasing a 24-70mm f2.8 Lens for my Nikon D-610

I have the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 and love it.

Due to cost of the Nikon. I was thinking about buying the less expensive Tamron Lens.

Appreciate any feedback from those with experience in this area.

Thanks

In my opinion the nikon will suit you better then the tamron, and as someone else has menchioned, the value of a nikon vs. a tamron, if you ever decide to trade, would be quite large..

"menchioned"... good one bro

I too own the Nikon D-610 and the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8. When I bought my 24-70 I bought the Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 Lens. I love it and it is on my camera most of the time.

Here is one of the sites I checked before I bought mine.

http://www.cameraegg.org/best-lenses-for-nikon-d600/

This is another site I checked where the Tamron scored higher.

http://www.dxomark.com/Lenses/Compare/Side-by-side/Tamron-SP-24-70mm-F28-Di-VC-USD-Nikon-on-Nikon-D610-versus-AF-S-Nikkor-24-70mm-f-2.8G-ED-on-Nikon-D610-versus-24-70mm-F2.8-IF-EX-DG-HSM-Nikon-on-Nikon-D610___885_915_175_915_300_915

I have been happy with my purchase.

Hi DeAnne,

I want to Thank You and Everyone for the comments and feedback.

I too have looked at several sites reviewing the 20-70mm f2.8, most give the Tamron very high ratings and right there with the Nikon.

As an old guy age 75 and shooting as a hobby, family and local high school sports.

I think I may just got with the Tamron. I have the Nikon 24-85mm f3.5 lens along with the 70-300mm f4.5...

The F2.8 24-70mm would be a good addition to my Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 for High School football closer up shots and some basketball.

Thanks very much for the sites and I want to Thank everyone that has commented and made recommendations.

I appreciate everyone's opinion and time to respond.

I will ponder the purchase a couple more weeks before I lay out the cash to purchase since High School Evening sports are not active as the summer approaches.

Thanks and Blessings to All.

Hi Tom,

I don't think you will regret buying the Tamron. When I bought mine from B & H Tamron was offering a $100. mail-in rebate on the 24-70mm which I took advantage of. Since you have time Tamron may offer another rebate before you buy.

Hi Again,

I look at some more reviews, found a Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 Vc listed as Refurbished "un-open in box" Mack Warranty 7 Years...For the price decided that I could not go wrong. It was listed on Amazon.com with the Amazon return policy...So I took the bait...I did that yesterday and unreal it is suppose to be delivered tomorrow.

After using, a day or so will give an update.

Again, Thanks to You and everyone for the advice, comments.

Love the Forum and all the knowledge out here to help make decisions, learn and enjoy the hobby.

Blessings to All
