I bought the MC-DC2 for Cool Pix but it's obviously the wrong release for the P900 anyone know which is the correct model number?

I do not know for sure is a wired remote is even offered for the P900, but the ML-L3 infrared remote will work with it just fine.

Will it work from behind the camera?

I have the ML-L3 and can't get it to work, I even replaced the battery. Is there a setting somewhere I need to change?

Have you set the camera to Remote? Its on the Self-timer/remote side of your multi-selector joystick, look on page 117 of your manual.

Actually the manual that came with mine only has 32 pages and the remote shutter release is not mentioned. I did however go on line and found a P900 manual that is much more extensive than the one that came with my camera.
Thanks again for you assistance.

That will be the "quick" printed manual. The entire manual came with the camera on a disk.

It took me a while but I finally found the time to run downstairs and dig out the box and sure enough there is a disk that I had not taken out.
Thanks again MT Shooter

Read the post, looked up on my window sill and saw a little box labled ML-L3. Opened it and found a still cased remote with 2 batteries.

Photo with my P510. SOOC no adjustments

Now what to do

Unless it is a Sony manual. The 10 pages that came with my a6000 were a joke. Even the full manual on line is none too good. I had to buy Gary friedman's book to find answers.

I have to agree, the A7 manual is less than sufficient as well. The download is better, but like their lens selection, less than what is needed.
