Display Problem with Resolution

I made the mistake of updating the driver on my Nvidia graphics card. Now, every time I wake the computer up from Sleep, it's very low resolution, and I have to go to Control Panel, Display, Adjust Resolution, Detect. A few seconds ago, the screen went black, and it came back in low res. It did the sleep thing very rarely before the update, but now it SOP.

New Dell, Win8.1. Any ideas?

What if you restored your computer to before you updated the driver and either reinstall the driver or forget you ever saw the update?

Yeah, I thought of that, but I'm always leery of going back in time. I saw those movies with Michael J. Fox, and I'm always afraid of what might happen.

Google led me to a possible solution, so I'll put it to sleep for a while and see if that works. If it does, I'll post the solution.

Update: So, far, no cure. I followed a detailed operation to make the computer start without changing settings. That didn't help. It still occasionally switched to low resolution after waking up. Also, a few times a day the screen will go black, and it will switch to low res. Maybe it will switch immediately to high res - or maybe not.

Had a similar problem with Win 7.1... but updated the driver again and the problem went away.

Is there some 'secret button,' buried deep in the menus that ya need to flip to make the card 'stay' in the hi-res mode?

Maybe contact Nvidia Customer Support?

Good luck!

Right click on the background of the desktop.
A menu will popup.
Select NVIDIA Control Center.
You set the resolution under Display\Change resolution.
