PSE 12 compatibility with canon cr2 files

I have a canon powershot G1x Mk ii and I shoot raw and JPG. PSE 12 will not import raw files from this camera. It will import the raw files from my 6D. will upgrading to PSE 13 or Photo shot CC resolve this issue?

If your camera is not supported in ACR built into PSE 12, then you would need to upgrade to PSE 13 to get a more up to date ACR. (Adobe Camera Raw)
If you go the CC route you will always get the latest versions as soon as ACR is updated.
You can look on Adobe's site to see a list of cameras supported by various versions of ACR, then see what version is included in PSE 12/13.
OR you can use ADOBE'S free DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to DNG files that are readable in PSE 12.

I don't use the organizer. Never had any problem with cr2 files. I import from camera to my computer using Picasa, save to My Pictures (or wherever, doesn't matter).
Then I open PSE 12. Click on file at top - select open...and if it's a raw file, the file automatically opens in ACR. Work on, click OK, then it opens into the main PSE 12 editing.

Open organizer, go to edit look for updates open it and it will download all ACR updates.

The highest version of ACE compatible with PSE 12, is 8.5.
Your camera also wants version 8.5
Go to Help -> About -> Plug-ins, to see what version you have.
Go to Help -> updates to get the newest version if needed, and you should be back in business.
