Can anyone tell me what could have caused this phenomenon? This is a photo of a daylily that my wife had taken on 6-21-2003. It has not been touched up or Photo shopped in any way. It was taken with a Kodak Z650 on auto mode. It was taken at mid day and she had taken several pictures just seconds before and just after and no other pictures had that affect!!

Looks like you had the camera more than 90degrees to the sun. I see the angle of the sunlight and the angle of the shot. My guess is the sun just hit your optics just right or wrong.

It was a dry day, we weren't in and out of the air condition that would have caused condensation???

In any case, awesome and should be worked carefully so as to not change the 'natural effect'

You can "create" lens flare in photoshop without divine intervention just a mouse click.
