So far, at least here for me, no CC upgrade to Lightroom 6 yet.... had one this morning for the CC App, but so far says Lightroom 5 is the current version.

Downloaded, installed, launched and converted catalog fine.... running Yosemite here to, 16 GB ram. Actually both Lightroom 5.7.1 and Lightroom CC exist on my machine right now. Both seem to operate fine.

But to use CC you will need to upgrade your catalog. I suggest removing LR 5 - LRCC is clean and fast.

The upgrade is kind of buried due to the UI Adobe uses.

Put LR6 in the cart, go to the check out page and then edit. Once there you will find a drop down next to the full version.

Open the drop down and there it is the upgrade for $79.00

And yes the stand alone does not synch via the cloud and mobile devices but I do not use that function so it is a non-issue.

Downloaded late yesterday, no install problems and it is up and running.......

Hope this helps in finding the upgrade.

The full price seems designed to drive more people to the monthly subscription. I have not found a discounted price for users of LR 5.

The upgrade, directly from Adobe, is $80 - not bad. I always prefer to buy - download - from the Adobe site because they will have a record of the purchase. I can go there and get key numbers or download again if necessary.

I downloaded the new version of LR and it is running fine. I still have the old version too. Is that how Adobe handles upgrades? I expected to see just one version after the upgrade. No problem with that, but now that I'm running the latest version, what can or should I remove of LR5?

Thanks,

- Don

I will continue to use LR as long as I can own the software. I use Photoshop very sparingly now, simply because I own my version, and will not subscribe to the service. I do like LR, but, when it is no longer available as a standalone, I will stop using it, as will many others. I've been with Adobe for a very long time, but, they're concept of product loyalty has shaped mine towards them.

This upgrade did not replace the previous version. Not sure why, because once you upgrade the catalog to LR6 it can no longer be read by 5. Once you start using LR6 there is no point in keeping LR5.

Anyway, I put it through it's paces last evening and this morning, and it is quite good - the ability to use Android devices (I use a Tab Pro 12.2 for tethered shooting), a far more useful filter brush to fine tune the application graduated and radial filters - and the performance improvement - I can't recommend it enough over the previous version. And if anyone is curious, yes, it offers support for the Nikon D7200.

Yes, Lightroom 5.x.x is history ;)

Lightroom CC is running smooth and a bit faster for many things so far as I can tell.

Thanks. I just uninstalled LR5 from my Mac along with the LR5 catalog and LR5 catalog previews. The new LR CC is running fine.
