Expensive for sure. trying to talk to the guy would have been cheaper than smashing a whole car.

Maybe, but he was firing off that rifle, he could have committed suicide if that cop did not do what he did.

No, he was in holding a weapon and he was a criminal, just robbed a convenience store, vandalized a church and stealing a car from people.

The question isn't what he did. The question is, what was he doing. Basing my judgement solely on the video I would have a hard time concluding that the force used was both necessary and justifiable.
We may have another cop indicted.

That might be a possibility, I would not have taken his approach but then again I was not there and the suspect was not seriously injured, although he could have been.

I can't believe the police department would condone running people over to prevent them from committing suicide.

Ya it was hard to watch, yet he may have just saved that mans life and maybe others.

He could have easily broken his neck back or smashed his head in the ground or windshield. No doubt that officer is gonna get a backroom ass chewing.

Really excessive, maybe but then

What if?

He shot some man, woman or child in those houses who might have come out on the lawn? Libs would go crazy that cops didn't stop him.

I agree with Sarge. The cop is a hero in my book and deserves a medal. Even though the felon may have been mentally ill and not in charge of his faculties at the time he was an immediate threat to anyone in the area. If the lawyer's mother happened to be driving by and was shot dead I believe her take on this would be different. He did the right thing. We could use a few more Robo-cops.
