That is a great idea. Send cash no new bills haha. Had a friend whose daughter almost sold her furniture to some scammer in Nigeria. She was arranging for the pick up of her furniture when we finally convinced her it was a scam. Plus if they had someone pick up the furniture now you would have thieves who were already at your house once. Who knows what the would have come back for. It was so hard to convince her it was a ripoff. I am amazed at just how gullible people can be.

Unfortunately that is so true. In the 70's I fell for those lottery scams of the Canadian Lottery. I found out still in the 70's that was illegal but I made the sucker list and I am still on it even though I have moved a lot. I have seen the progression of the Nigerian scam from mail to email, the countries have changed, the scam has not. To say that I am not trusting is putting it mildly. But I do try to keep up with how they present scams and warn people about them.

I had some people who would wait until the listing had almost expired , then ask a question that was answered in the add... Some guys seem to be just responding for the attention, or whatever... BTSOM!

Yeah, you have to wonder what's going on with some people. They ask ridiculous questions or make ridiculous demands. The bidding will be up to $100, and they'll ask if I'll take $75 right now. Or I'll say USA only, and they'll want me so ship it to Russia.

Hi Earworms (gross avatar name IMHO on face value... LOL) One of our communities (Loveland I believe) has offered their parking lot to Craig's list buyers/sellers for their transactions. They won't come out there unless there is a problem, but I thought that was a very nice gesture on their part. Most people won't try to scam you if you are meeting in a Police station parking lot. Cheers.

Hi, do you know what an "Earworm" is? Look it up, it isn't quite as gross as you imagine.

I usually meet them at a corner gas station (ARCO) or at a fast food restaurant (McDonalds). They get to examine the merchandise and I get to count the money.

Thank you.

I always write a clear accurate description, with condition and price and pictures, yet they often ask the dumbest questions.

One kid was selling an old SLR on Craigslist. He said it was a camera that used "role" thingies! I told him it was "roll," not "role!" And that the rolls were rolls of 35mm film!

Hmmm, looking it up on line it says it is a song that gets stuck in your head. I have had that at times. That's why I put in my original post "at face value" since I didn't know what it was. Learned something new today. Thanks! Cheers.

No clue, but would be interested in knowing the answer.

After doing internet search for "Craigslist PayPal Scams" I've learned that what I've been experiencing is a quite common scam. One that I didn't fall for! My policy has been and still is cash only on delivery!

"Role thingies." Beautiful! I guess "Buy with confidence," doesn't apply. :D

Yeah, I kind of had the same idea, but it would still cost me a few bucks to ship a brick all the way to Nigeria! Even better would be to ship a really cheap plastic film camera, something bought from a Thrift store.

I have an ongoing debate with a heavily opinionated friend who swears that PayPal is secure. What I'm really interested in doing is proving him wrong! No, I wasn't born yesterday, my intuition told me something was wrong from the get-go.
Thank you.

I recently bought a used dSLR from a Craigslist ad. The seller had me meet her at a local Police Service Center. I had the cash and she had the camera. It was actually a pleasant exchange, she is a professional photographer and we talked some.
