Tattoo Removal now a Bigger Business than Tattooing

It does not surprise me. Fads and fashions come and go. And many employers, for better or worse, consider tattooes "low life." I have recently started seeing agencies mentioning "tattoo-free" in model listings and have seen models mentioning "tattoo-free" on their websites and emails. One of the reasons fashion model agencies scout so much in Eastern Europe is that the girls tend to be tattoo-free. Some of the top figure photographers like Hegre also prefer tattoo-free. And of course, Playboy was always known to prefer tattoo-free girls for the centerfold.

If tattooes become passe, I wonder what the next fad will be. Scarification, perhaps? Or subdermal embeds?

Scarification and embedding objects under the skin is not rare in Los Angeles. Branding is popular in some subcultures here. Branding is especially popular in African-American fraternities. I do not know how common scarification is in those fraternities. And of course piercing is so common it is almost passe.
