As an avid canoeist I have always been fascinated with the shapes of waves ...... especially one like this which curls in on itself and actually breaks upstream. This usually happens when a swift current meets an obstruction, probably submerged rocks.

I like to use images like these as backgrounds or layers

Nice... Love the way the light sparkles Bob... Sometimes hard to crop a wave successfully with out an anchor object in the photo. Nicely done.

Thanks Don. I can imagine many uses for an image like this.

Good eye Rich to detect the glow. It's a touch of AKVIS Neon I blended using Soft Light mode - it keeps the detail of the main image and subtly introduces some highlights in the waves.

Thanks Frodo. I was pleasantly surprised that my new p&s, a Nikon P600, captured the clearness of the water as well as it did, and freezing the drops in mid-air to boot.

Beautiful, Bob. What is it about water that attracts our attention so? The fact that we're made up of so much of it? Or that our primordial ancestors may have climbed up out of it? Or is it just that it's wet and pretty?

Nice shot, very well processed.

Thanks Randy. I know what you mean about the water. I hold certifications with both the Red Cross and Boy Scouts of America as Waterfront Director. When I was younger, I used to swim 2000 meters per day (about a mile and quarter), and I'm an avid Scuba Diver and Canoeist. So yep, I feel right at home on, in, or under the water.

Thanks Swamp-Cork. I was able to catch the sun glints on the water which went a long way to enhancing this particular crop.
