Shot was taken as the sun was sinking fairly low behind the trees in the North-Central part of the province. So it may be a bit on the dark side, but I decided I would leave it that way.

Hi Cottondog,
Nice subject, perhaps a bit central and a bit blue (sky reflection)
would cropping the image up to the shadow line and across to the left tree trunk (keep both bits of trunk)make a better image to you. It would bring the house forward and bring it more into the 'Rule of thirds'. It would also lose some of the blue snow. Its just a thought...
If its local and as empty as it looks ...its worth a revisit and more of an explore (from the outside I suggest). Bet there are more great shots available.
Have fun

How is this for a crop. Is this close to what you had in mind?

Thank you very much, rlaugh. Appreciate it. If I get back up that way in the future, I will try a couple of different shots.

Nice but subject tooo dark

Possibly too dark, but not necessarily. Most of the photos on UHH seem darker when downloaded than the original. It's a common complaint. At the same time, I took the shot as the sun was sinking behind the trees, and did not use a flash. I left it intentionally a bit dark. Thanks for looking and commenting, James. I appreciate it.

My rendition. Hope you do not mind?

No, James, I do not mind. The picture now looks like it was taken in an earlier part of the day. If I had arrived at this old place an hour or two earlier, I imagine my picture would have looked much like this. Nice job.

I like your cropped version very much, Cotondog.

Thank you, Linda. I'm glad you like it, and I prefer the cropped version as well.

Thank you, Lenny. I'm glad you like it, and I appreciate your kind comment.
The cropped version is very nice, it focuses you eyes more on the house than the snow in front.
