Thanks for the tips re the USB extension cords. In terms of the D7000, I'm certainly not planning on getting rid of it since it's a great camera.
I tried the Hi2 setting and the iso bumps to 25,600. Now I have 2 great cameras with low light capability!
I just upgraded to D7200. I have been shooting a D80 since it was first released. Great camera 6+ years ago. But a little outdated today after more than 30,000 shots. Had it only one day and only six shots so far. But think I will love it.

I love the upgrage the D7200 provides from my D700 - especially low light performance. I've attached 2 photos taken in my darkened wine cellar with the same 35mm Nikon 1.8G lens on each camera tripod mounted. I could not have taken this photo hand held with the D7000 since I was at maximum iso of 6400 and the fastest shutter speed was 1/8 sec. The D7200 took the photo at 1/25 sec which would have given me a clear hand held shot- even with my septagenarian tremor.
My only complaint is with Nikon - not the camera. The new micro USB connector cord, which makes my collection of old cords obsolete, is only 2 feet long and doesn't reach the USB port on my CPU which sits on the floor. I guess I'll start downloading directly from the cards. Also Nikon didn't include a hot shoe cover (which was included with my D7000) which I ordered
separately from B&H for $2. Nikon support said they didn't plan to make a
longer cord. Perhaps if enough of us complain, they or some 3rd party will
make a longer one.

what is your point? so what ? the upgrade always contains a little more than the model it's replacing. it doesn't nessarley mean the pictures are betterb, so who really cares . if it has a couple features that the d7000 doesent . you up grade as you see fit .about the only difference in those two is . the upgrade doesent slip into a different mode at times .
