Well yes it was. Others are taking pictures like this also. They post on Depue Site. Check it out on U-Tube also. It's not hard. The camera is the Canon SX50. The zoom is 200X Figger it out. All my astromony shots are handheld.
I used to use a tripod, but there is no need. Here is what I got about a hour ago. Moon, Orion Nebula m-42, Jupiter . All handheld.

Yes, and when I first saw what the camera could do I didn't believe it either.
I stayed up until 3:00am watching videos on U-Tube of the moon. Next day I
told the wife were are going to get one. I have a telescope and have done
Astrophotography . After a year I still find it hard to believe. If anybody would
have told me that you can take a 350.00 point & shoot camera and go out and
point it at the sky and take pictures of the rings of Saturn, cloud bands on
Jupiter I would not believe it. But that's where we are today. Just think what
they will be doing in 10 years. I'm 72 and looking forward to it.
