Get the Leica Lens cloth - I have two of them, for well over 15 years; they even wash well, and are superbly soft.

According to the lensrental blog (link posted earlier) they avoid using microfiber clothes on lens surfaces because of the possibility of the cloth containing some grit from a previous use which could scratch a lens. It's hard to argue with a company that rents and sells lenses as their bread and butter. I have personally used microfiber clothes on lens surfaces (most of the time it's the surface of a filter) without doing any noticeable damage but I am rethinking about it.

I read that as well, and just ordered 50 Zeiss moistened cleaning pads on Ebay. I will save the microfiber for my phone and computer screens. I have always babied my glass and will continue to do so.

And I ordered a pack of 100 Pec Pads on Ebay - so there! Seriously, the stuff is cheap enough and I don't know about everybody else but I am not spending an awful lot of time cleaning my lenses and camera equipment. All of my stuff is wrapped and stored in camera bags except when in use. There is another product mentioned by lensrentals that I have used for years called purosol, my liguid cleaner. I bought a 16 oz container which I think I bought directly from Purosol. Smaller quantities are quite expensive. I've always been a little bit wary of these ubiquitous unlabeled containers of liquid optical cleaners that I have accumulated.

Agree. Go light on the laundry detergent and DO NOT use fabric softener in either the washer or in the dryer.

Aren't washers and dryers risky to use as they are by their nature contaminated with lint and other particles? Wouldn't hand washing and air drying make more sense?

so, my Amazon order arrived and the cloths from Toray are excellent. Fine surface, tight weave and they work exceptionally well

Is there any kind of standard for Microfiber Cloths? I bought a lens cleaning kit from Best Buy on impulse. It was Insignia Brand. The cloth that was included left all kinds of lint. Does anyone have any recommendations for decent cloths that aren't abrasive and don't shed.

Hoya makes microfiber cleaning cloths, look them up on google oe amazon.

Don't worry about the "12 left in stock". Click on the vendor link "Itsuzai-Japan". They have many more styles and colors available.

But there's only 1 of these left:

Better jump on it if you want it!
