I only use Nikon batteries, but I have friends who use other brands. They seem to work fine. The only difference that I have noticed is that I get more images per charge when we are using the same cameras.

I have used Wasabi EN-EL 15's on my D7100 no problems...no issues. Charge with the Nikon Charger.

The battery is a 2000 mAh 7.2 volt battery, the original Nikon is a 1900 mAh, 7.0 volt battery.

I get as good or better charge use from the Wasabi as I do from the Nikon.

I rotate them when a charging is needed.

When I had a grip on the D7100, both batteries remained in use at all times, grip battery set to be used first, so was charged more often then the internal battery.

Note - depending on the model Nikon - some require "chipped" batteries.... if you use a cheap knock off the camera may sense it and refuse to power up. I had a D3000 - it did not care, a D5100 - it cared, and my current D7100, it cares, but the Wasabi is "chipped" and works fine.

Make sure it will work on your camera. I have one that works on my D50 and D80 but not the D90. The D 50 battery will not work on the other cameras but the other cameras batteres work on the D50 My D7100 batteries are compltly differant so had to buy a spare for it. I wish they would just all use the same one. - Dave

For some of the newer cameras, the manufacturers are introducing software that will detect anything other than an OEM battery and not accept it.

I have used both Canon and some knock offs in my Canon 60D with no problems, and I can buy several knock-offs for the price of one Canon. I do make it a point of rotating them in use,and when they get down the 1/2 charge, I recharge them because I'm never sure how long the second 1/2 will last, Canon or not.

There was a long thread about a year ago on this non-OEM battery subject.

I have used off brand batterys in my 7d with no problems. I have 4 which I bought for $50. So if 1 doesn't last as long as my canon battery it makes no difference

I've used Wasabi batteries on both my Pentax K 10 and K 5. No problems whatsoever. While I've not made a really proper study, they seem to deliver the same performance as do the O E Pentax batteries, but at about half the cost.

I use Wasabi's on both a Nikon D800E and Pentax K-3 and K-5. I get somewhat fewer pictures out of them, but not enough to make up for the price difference.

I LIKE them.

well I have not had an issue with off brand batteries. there are some that will try to discourage you from using off brand and of course I understand the $$$ value of this but there are issues with those of us that have a budget and those that have sponsors and those that have a little money to spend and those that feel if ya want better ya have to pay. For me there is a difference but in my budget it is not enough of a difference to try and get my money by spending more to have 6 batteries and swivel them so I can save a little in the long run. It is a personnel decision!!!!!
