You didn't say what kinds of monitors you are using , Or if they are both uncalibrated . Unless everyone you send it to has a calibrated monitor ,, it will look different to everyone who sees it. So asking what it looks like is useless . I use the Prophoto color gamut ,, If I send to you and you are using an uncalibrated commercial consumer grade monitor,, you will see about 75% of what is in the image. If the profile you are using is sRGB,,(and that's all a consumer grade monitor is capable of seeing) that's all you will get.. Calibrate your monitors to the same profile,, they should look identical..

I think I did say that I had a calibrator, but the drivers are no longer suitable for current windows.
We are not all rich enough to keep replacing these tools everytime windows upgrades

Unfortunately .. that's the reality. if you don't calibrate you will never know what you are sending out . And you will waste a lot of paper and ink when you try to print.. It sucks,, but that's the way it is,, I also recently had to upgrade my calibration kit.. It was the last thing I wanted to spend money on,, but there really is no choice..

I can suggest that you get a new video card for your new computer, one which is fully Windows 8 compatible, and connect both monitors to it.
I assume both monitors are the same size and type. If not, you may have some little bit of work ahead.
I have run dual monitors for over a decade; I always buy two that are exactly the same.

Thanks All, sounds as though you are getting the same as me, I will try adjusting the other one to suit.
Have got a Spider 2, but since changing to Win 8.1 it is no longer recognized.

Reinstall the drivers that work for WIN8.1 and your SPIDER 2 should be recognized. You can get the right drivers at the website. Then do your monitor check again and calibrate them. It seems you have different types of monitors so I'd go with the one that has sharper and brighter color saturation. Old LED laptop monitors or non-IPS monitors do not demonstrate vivid colors or hues well.

JMHO.

Deep purple. I have two printers that give slightly different colors. You can recalibrate a monitor, but not a printer.

Please re-consider your approach to getting your monitors calibrated. The cost of a spyder express is $99 at B&H. The benefit to you is that you will have both of your tools (monitors) matching. Consider the time expense of having every photo evaluated by others on the internet.

I am also a hobbyist woodworker, sometimes I have to invest money to build a jig to help me build a piece of furniture.

BTW, monitors do go out of sync on their own.

I have checked there are no update drivers, which is tiipical of computer hardware these days.

I may decide to change to win 7.

I find the opposite to be true, nearly everything I've purchased has updated drivers for new operating systems. Any chance you could tell us what you actually have? Perhaps someone here has what it takes to make it work.

Another good reason to stay with Win7 and avoid Win8 and its revisions.

I have a iMac 27" and it looks a dark bluish purple. I guess I'd call it.

Unless both monitors are the same it can be difficult to get both images to match. I have an old Spider for XP but it does work on Windows 7 but only on one monitor.
