The cure for old man's eyesight....KatzEye + Magnifying Viewfinder.

Oh wow....this worked beautifully.

A while ago I bought a KatzEye focusing screen and I love it. (though I botched up the install and got dust on it.) I love it.

The only problem was that my eyes are 52 years old now; I'm near sighted and have presbyopia....I'm an ocular mess.

I stumbled on (from here or somewhere) the Magnifying Viewfinder and the combination of those two things; the Magnifying viewfinder and the KatzEye are stunning to these old eyes.

I've NEVER been able to focus on dark objects in fairly low light because there just isn't enough detail in the T2i viewfinder...it's too dark and tunnel-like...I've always relied on auto-focus.

Well I just installed this thing and tried a manual focus of my dogs (surprise!) dark (left) eye in low room light at 1/40 of a second.....yikes!

Check this out....I did this 3 times in a row...

Yes...if you cram your eye right up next to it....I can't use the shade except to roll it back...I wear glasses too which doesn't help at all.

Here is another shot...

The first shot shows the crop size from Lightroom...the second one is the close up...

Amazing...simply amazing...and it was getting a bit dark too...

I would NEVER have been able to do this before; it's like getting a new camera!

At 60 it might help I wear reading Glasses this might help all around. Butttttt it may also go against if the better half finds out there is an aid to somethings sighted.

My new "eyes" arrived a couple hours ago and it was well worth the $29.... I can most def see better especially on manual focus.....

Mine got delivered yesterday and was a quick install on my Nikon D300s with KatzEye. I'm going right after work today to take shots of the MSC Fabiola leaving dock at Port of Oakland.

Oh yeah...the combo of a KatzEye and the magnifier effectively makes you 21 again!
