canon and yosemite

I recently upgraded my iMac to Yosemite OSX and now the Canon utility won't download images from my camera and the Canon website doesn't offer an update.

Has anyone else encountered this? More importantly, has anyone found an answer?

I'm running 10.10.2 on MBP 15 mid 2010 6,2 and both my SX50 & 7D
when connected open iPhoto and download the photos.

I have not encountered any other problems iPhotos, but agree that things in canon utilities don't work, get the message 'doesn't work with this version of OS'.

If your camera doesn't open iPhoto and download pics, you might try a re-install of yosemite and updates, if you haven't already done so.

I know, not much help.

Thanks for the quick response. Yep, I've successfully downloaded images using iPhoto so I'm not completely stuck but I find it a bit cumbersome compared to Canon Utility.

Chances are you need an updated version of Canon Utility. There are new versions designed to work with Yosemite. Updates are on the Canon USA website and are free. The whole procedure is painless. As an add-0n, you need to instruct iPhoto to open when you connect your camera, it is not automatic. You can find the option in iPhoto's preferences. That's not difficult either. And the price is right. GL

David, I found the update on the Canon Australia website, but I swear it wasn't there yesterday when I looked (!). Thanks for your help.
