Well,when I say "they " I am referring to the scientists who claim that this global warming is destroying the planet. My area of expertise is In zinc die casting. I understand that doesn't qualify me as an expert in climatology so I have to bow to the professionals who understand what is going on. Some of these professionals say that these fluctuations are normal. You can find areas in the polar ice that are melting, but they say there are areas that are getting thicker. These are normal fluctuations but the scientists who claim this is a sign of warming do not want to admit that some places in the polar ice cap is getting thicker.

How are they going to eliminate this problem. Shut down all manufacturing in thr USA. I mean countries like China, Russia, European countries are not going to sign on with this. They will laugh at us and take the rest of our jobs.

I just wish everybody would sit down at one table and talk it out and find real answers.

No reputable scientist claims that what is currently occurring in the earth's climate is normal. 97% of all of the climatologists in the world (people who spend their lives studying earth's climate) agree on two things: catastrophic warming is occurring, and man is the cause. Yes, there are scientists who disagree with that, but there is no equivilancy between the two viewpoints. One is far more probably true than the other. The late Bertrand Russell said this about two sides to issues: There is one side that says that there is a silver English tea set inside the asteroid belt that circles the sun. The other side says there is no such tea set up there. Yes, there are two sides to that argument, but one's veracity is far more likely than the other. So it is with global warming. Yes, there are deniers, but it is far more likely that it is actually happening given the overwhelming majority of scientists that believe it to be.

What to do? Well, we're the biggest offenders (maybe China) so we tone down out use of fossil fuels and our co2 emissions. China has already begun to comply with environmental concerns because they believe the science, and they know what will happen if they don't. The European countries have long been on board. Their stringent restrictions on emissions are driving vehicular engineering. So it's up to us. And the consequences of not doing anything is too great to sit on our hands.

The title of this thread reflects a common misunderstanding of this thing called "global warming". Much of the additional heat energy in the atmosphere goes into water - mainly the oceans. As a result we are seeing increases in ocean temperature that outstrip any previously seen. Instead of heat, think of energy being deposited in the ocean. Then, when a storm moves over the ocean surface it takes up that energy, gaining strength. Hence, hurricane Sandy and the major snow storms on the east coast in the last few years. So, yes, global warming is responsible for historic blizzards, as counterintuitive as that seems. You just have to read past the headlines and look at the science.

You are wrong again, there is NO consensuses on Global warming causing catastrophic warming at all. You are making crap science up again buddy, you really do not know what you are talking about. The consequences of trying to do something has FAR outweighed the consequences of NOT doing anything because it was NOT doing anything in the first place. Nothing but nut jobs propaganda and people are finally waking up to the Global warming hoax. You time is ending with this hoax, I'm so glad more and more real scientists are coming out of the global craziness plantation and coming to tell us the truth about the LIE about man caused global warming causing catastrophic climate change. OH by the way, the temps have only increased by .5 degrees F in since 1880 LOL....NO dramatic global warming happening and never will.
