Another of your fantastic photos.

Thanks Gene, I appreciate your nice comment. I get out there shooting about 3 times a week and I believe I am improving all the time. Practice makes perfect! I'm not there yet but I love learning about photography and have picked up lots of tricks.

WINNER!!! Really, you should enter it in the next contest that comes up!

THank you Amy for your encouragement......last summer I entered what I thought was a fantastic photograph at our county fair and it didn't even make it into the contest. After that I have been really disappointed with contests in general. After all, what is a contest? It's a person's opinion that happens to be a judge.
It really left a bad taste in my mouth about people's opinions and the politics that may go along with those judges. So, I don't do "contests" now.

Beautiful picture. I am curious as to whether you used a CPL on this shot.

Thanks for sharing.

NO, I didn't use a CPL filter, but I did use a Vivitar UV filter on it. While on the pier in Huntington Beach I talked to another photographer and asked him what kind of filter he was using...............he told me that he doesn't like using filters because it takes away from the photos. I personally like the "protection" that a filter gives to protect the lens and will loose a little quality to have that protection.

Thanks, just wondering aBout the rainbow and if a polarizer would have any affect on it. I tend to agree with you about the protection afforded by a filter, keeping in mind that there are times when it can produce unwanted effects. I bought a set of filters, CPL and 1A, I still have the CPL but the 1A escaped leaving me unprotected
