Thank you so much, Carla! I'm so glad you like my birds! You're right about the hawk, and I was surprised that it allowed me to even be in the yard. I think that could have been because it was a juvenile. It did keep its eyes on me almost the entire time. :-)

Oh,WOW, Donna! so well composed, so beautiful against the muted backgrounds. Love the expression/look on the S.S.hawk, seems curious as to what you are doing. :-)

I'll have to try out auto ISO with M as well. Mine were a little over exposed and washed out when I used it with TV.
Here are my settings for the three birds. Sharpie: 1/500sec, f/6.30, ISO 2500 (very cloudy), focal length 600mm. Same settings for Pine Warbler but ISO 2000. Cardinal: 1/400sec, f/5.60, ISO 1000, focal length 400mm. I probably differ with most members on this, but I don't really worry about having every feather tack sharp. My goal is to have a sharp focus on the eye, and if it's not, I toss out the image.

I try to always go for the eyes too.

You're most welcome, Craig. I find that if my shutter speed is slower than 1/400, I have very few keepers.Really the faster the better.

Thank you Donna, I've been shooting at 50 - 100 ISO and slower Shutter Speed. I think I'll ramp it up a bit and try your settings.

Dim lighting and long focal lengths=high ISOs. Please try downloads. 8 birds posted. Sorry about that. 3 birds posted. Unable to post all for some reason.

Donna, (unsurprisingly) these are fantastic! The poor little cardinal in the rain pulls at my heartstrings.

And what is this I see about the other two being shot with the Tamron 150-600 (I think I'll dub that lens the Tamazon)? It wasn't so far in the future after all! Were you especially good - or were you a little bad?

I'm so glad you like my favorite, Sherry. Thanks so much! Tamazon is absolutely right. Leave it to creative you to come up with just the right word to describe it. LOL Yes, I managed to somehow get the lens, but I didn't get out of my dental woes as I had hoped. Surgery scheduled for Tues. Hope yours is coming along nicely.

Thanks very much, Rich! I think I'm going to really like it, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to start working out to be able to carry it around without a wheelbarrow. :-D
