Here are my settings for the three birds. Sharpie: 1/500sec, f/6.30, ISO 2500 (very cloudy), focal length 600mm. Same settings for Pine Warbler but ISO 2000. Cardinal: 1/400sec, f/5.60, ISO 1000, focal length 400mm. I probably differ with most members on this, but I don't really worry about having every feather tack sharp. My goal is to have a sharp focus on the eye, and if it's not, I toss out the image.
