This is my latest carving. I saw it in a store and took a few shots. It is not as big as the one in the store. Only stands about 18" tall. And the painting isn't all that great. I did it.:) Gave it to Janny for Christmas. I took it to work today to add a rubber coating to the top so the water will not get into the wood. It was made from one piece of wood. I used Oak. The 3 birds on top were carved separately and pined down. :)

I was very touched to read that you learned woodcarving from your grandfather and that his spirit is with you every time you sculpt. Besides your talent and the beauty of the work, to continue an art from generation to generation is indeed very special. Your work will become heirlooms. Thank you for sharing.

Erv, is there no end to your skills? That is just wonderful. Janny is one lucky woman to have you for her husband. You will recall I usually say you are the lucky one. Apparently you are both pretty darn lucky to have each other.

Well done sir.

Dennis

You do have some great talent Erv. This peace is great and I would never put that outdoors but instead on a mantle or as a center piece on your dinning room table....Rich
