The only "American" code I know of belongs to North American indigenes. The law of our land with regard to religious codes is already well stated in the US Constitution. The actions of some Alabama legislators (who historically have not distinguished themselves) has nothing to do with the law of the land.

You don't get it do you? Sharia law is not a religion - it has nothing to do with the First Amendment. It only prevents Sharia law from being used in our Courts. No other country's laws should supersede our laws in our courts..

Hear, hear.

I think the precedent has already been set.... by the US Constitution.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Since this refers to "foreign" religions, I assume that includes those middle eastern religions, Christianity and Judiasm.

Not exactly, our laws were established with the concept of some Christian/Judaism values so Christianity and Judaism are not foreign to our Constitution.

The only laws that can be used in our courts are the laws that apply in those courts. You can't go into a California court and try to use a Nevada law let a lone Sharia law. If the Sharia law or Nevada law is also a California law then yes otherwise no.

Lightning will probably strike me, but I agree with you. Nevertheless, you won't be able to go into an Alabama court and claim that your Jewish/Christian religion justifies what you did (perhaps stoning an unfaithful wife or banning lepers from your neighborhood). But I think this was already so, and the Alabama law is just pandering to the electorate.

There is no Sharia law. It's a bunch of crap made up by a bunch of lunatics. As you can see from this link the people who believe this nonsense are barbarians.

We are talking about Sharia law and foreign Laws, that would be laws of countries other than ours here in the US. Also note, we are not talking about a religion but laws based on a religion. There is a differences. How would you feel about going into a California Court of Law for stealing and apple and have the Judge order your hand removed or see homosexuals hauled into court and hear the death sentence given. That is Sharia Law.

You said, "If the Sharia law or Nevada law is also a California law then yes...". Just what are you trying to defend here? Are you for Sharia Law coming to the United States?

You obviously aren't hearing what I'm saying so while I don't know if it's your reading skills or my communication skills or a combination I'm not going to continue this as I don't know how to fix it.

I understand that Huntsville is pretty 21st century. The rest of the state not so much.

Of course not. Do you have any reason to think it is?

Sometimes feeling good is nice. Just Alabama's way of saying that separation of church and state is for keeps.
