Finally found a bug to shoot. Nikon D3100 with Nikkor 105mm macro lens, SB-700 speedlight with Westcot pocket-box 6x7. All 1/200 sec at f/16, 1.1 magnification. Subject was six inches from end of lens. Original photos and cropped photos of each: six photos in all.
Most likely a Multi-Colored Asian Lady beetle (Harmonia axyridis).
Perhaps the most reliable identifying characteristic of the multicolored Asian lady beetle is the prominent black 'M'-shaped marking behind its head. This 'M' can look thick, thin or even broken in appearance.
