I'm curious who's planning on going to the big 75th rally in August. I am seriously considering going just to take pictures and watch people. A street photographers dream! I would love to hone my skills there.

Who's up for it?

In Sturgis anything goes! If you're riding it there, you better start out in June, Lol!

I wouldn't recommend it. It would be hard to pick out yours among all the others. :D

As someone who lives in the Black Hills....I am NOT looking forward to the huge influx of folks currently predicted.

Hey Dakotacheryl.....I agree. Before going back and living in our RV full time, we lived 7 miles east of EAFB. We hibernated in August. Now that we are in the RV we summer in Rapid. Doctors, friends, church etc. are there...it's our home town. The RV parks are packed and noisy. Unless you travel a long ways from SD, there isn't really any place to go to escape it.

Our summer spot is Hart Ranch but no specific plans for the rally time. Our house will be for sale by then and we can park our RV out there. its a bit quieter altho we can here the racket from the fwy. Our house is between the AFB and New Underwood.

Good luck with the house sale.

I'm in Hill City...the way they close Main St. to cars during the rally is a PITA.

I know the folks who live near there don't like the traffic and noise. I have family there, she liked it the first year, but ever since she hates it. That part of the country needs the revenue the rally brings.

I'm still going, if only to watch the crazyness.

I understand the need for the revenue and it's gone on for so long, that the area has learned to depend it.

I have to admit, if we have to go to town, we have met some nice folks. I've made a point in asking where they are from....is kind of interesting.

But the traffic and road closures are a real pain. I can't imagine living in Hill City or Keystone, or Sturgis that time of year. Good luck.

Last year we left SD on 8/1 and headed to Missoula, MT. It has been the only year we were actually out of the area.

I will be doing some panning shots of the bikes as they pass along I-90. Great practice..

This is a great area to visit any time except the first two weeks in August.

My husband and I have stayed at the Rafter J Campground in Hill City. We are riders and love the area. Living in a resort area on Cape Cod during the summer, I can appreciate how the locals hate all the traffic but also depend on the revenue.

How time flies. We made the 50th , was a sea of bikers. Still have an Ultra, but at 88 , and wife of 67 years in nursing home, I won't make the 75th. Maybe the 100th!! Post pictures, please.
