You're a year out, Brian. The King would have been 80 today (born at Tupelo, 1935). The King lives on. :-) :-)

What a shame he left us at such an early age. RIP Elvis and thanks for the memories.
He was something. Should have lived a healthier lifestyle in his later years. Drugs caused us to lose a lot of the great ones. And damn airplanes. And damn trees. How the hell did Sonny Bono not see the damn tree? If John Denver wanted to fly he should have bought a real airplane instead of a go-kart with wings. Sorry. Had to sneak in a little humor to lighten the mood.

And as a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan, helicopters need to be added to your list. Among the greatest of blues guitar players and singers, he died in a helicopter crash in 1990. We have lost many of the great performers to accidents.

I got into trouble because of Elvis...Years ago, we were watching him on one of his first appearances on Ed Sullivan. The girls in the audience were screaming as they usually did, and I mocked them and screamed too. That made my dad angry and he looked at me and told me to stop acting like a "girl." My mom, loved watching him and loved his music as well. I don't think that set too well with my dad either. I have his version of UnChained Melody on my IPod and listen to it when I ride my Motorcycle.

Not to mention Aids that took Freddie Mercury, and that jerk killer that took Lennon,s life in NY, and great artists, albeit heavy substance abusers, that didn't make it past 27...Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, and a few others.
Other than Lennon, You cant blame their demise on anything but their own self induced lifestyles.
