I've purchased both new and used equipment from B&H, they are a class operation. I have been in the 42nd St. several times thru the years while visiting family. Something about the operation that always said don't buy from them.

This says it all:

Look at the high number of dissatisfied customers, and why they were dissatisfied. Lots of unethical behavior - not a company you want to buy from.

42nd St and B&H represent the two extremes of photo sales: the very bad (42nd St) and the very good (B&H). Yet 42nd St still exists because there's a sucker born every day.

I just bought a SB910 from 42nd street and when I got it, sure enough it was not a US version. I could tell since I also bought another one from B&H that was US version. Let the buyer beware...

Avoid 42nd like the plaque!! Two bad experiences with them trying to just get a couple of inexpensive point and shoot cameras. I use B&H and Adorama almost exclusively and for in person purchases, Hunts in the Boston area.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? B&H is First Class and has helpful, knowledgeable sales representatives. When in NYC, pop into their store. What an operation ... well deserving of the reputation they have received and will continue to receive for years to come. Buy from B&H!

Maybe this helps.

Ditto! Their shipping and customs handling (if ordering from Canada etc) are up-front and no hidden surprises! Impeccable after-sales support too!

Stay away from 42nd. Photo, they are not an authorized Canon dealer. Canon has a new policy concerning the repairs of Grey Market equipment.

Stick with B&H and you will never go wrong. They have all the support that you will ever need and they are a authorized Canon dealer. Saving a few bucks up front could cost you in the long run.

I've used both B&H and Adorama and have had good experiences with both of them. Their prices always seem to be comparable.

I've noticed that 42nd Street Photo consistently advertises photographic products at a considerable discount from B&H and Adorama. Does anyone have any comments on this? What has been your experience in dealing with 42nd Street Photo?

42nd St. is a big NO NO !

I have been buying from B&H and Adorama for over 30 years and have always "got what I paid for" and have never been sold short on information or products. As for 42nd st. they push gray market "imported" and sometimes Chinese junk. That is why you will see the big price difference. Also you will see other stores with discounted photography and other electronic items that push the same gray market items. Always buy from reputable dealers You will be much happier for it. U get what you pay for!!!!
