I have a Pentax K7 with 3 lenses. I am thinking of getting a smaller camera like the Nikon P7800 so I don't have to carry around a heavy bag. If Or look for a good lens that I could walk around with anyone out there has any suggestions please advise.

There are a lot of choices out there for advanced point & shoot cameras, just depends how deep your pockets are. As suggested, the Sony RX100 and the Canon s110 are great pocket cameras that have all the settings of a DSLR. The NIKON p7800 and the Canon "G" series are a little bigger that a "pocket camera" but still a lot smaller than a DSLR. One thing for sure, the sensors in these cameras are a little bigger than your average pocket camera and they turn out sharp, detailed photo's. Good luck in your search.

I may be taking a trip to Europe with the family next year. No way am I going to lug around a DSLR and lens/lenses.
It's a lot of money but.....I've been looking at the Fuji X100s. Lots and lots of rave reviews.

The newest version, Sony RX-100 III has an electronic viewfinder built in. This camera gets excellent reviews.

I recently bought the lumix zs40 ...... It has a great image quality per snapsort and the 30x Leica lens comes in very handy.

I just got back from Northern New Mexico, where I was rarely below 7500 feet. I took the zs40 everywhere, including rock climbing, night events, etc., and I am extremely satisfied with the purchase based on the reasons I bought it.

Coming from Chicago.....love NM. It was our 7th or 8th visit, but it had been 6 yrs since the last one. We would like to get some kind of Khmer there (long term rental, vacation home for part time rent out, etc). Hopefully.......

How do,you like it?

I have the Nikon P7700 and can attest to it's image quality while traveling where the zoom range is a real plus. Not quite pants pocketable it will fit a jacket or vest pocket and I use a Tamrac 5692 case with belt loop at times.

Have you looked at the Sony HX400V? It has everything you could want in an advanced point and shoot, including Panorama, GPS, A 50 X jumbo lens, and easy to handle. Lenore H.

The problem is that the bigger the sensor the bigger the camera and/or the shorter the lens. For example the Sony RX100 III gets very good reviews and it's very small, but it's lens only 24-70 or so.

I find my Nikon P7800 to be a good compromise. It has a very sharp 28-200 f/2-4 lens, a 1/1.7 in sensor, a hot shoe (I have a tiny sb-300 flash that I use for bounce flash), and a decent EVF. It fits in a jacket pocket, the leg pockets of my cargo pants, and a small Pearstone belt case that I got from B&H. It's available refurbished for just under $400. I love mine.
