Need help identifying a bird...

Christmas and Holiday Greetings to all. I saw this bird on my pond here in Charleston the other day and have not been able to identify it. Any help would be appreciated.
Sorry about the poor quality of the photo. Has been enlarged way beyound reason and ???????

My first thought was a woodpecker of some sort, but the colors are wrong... Good luck!

A toucan that got away?
Maybe send this pic in to Audubon Society and see if they can help...would be interesting! Oh, and Merry Christmas back at ya!

Without having an idea of size, it's difficult. My "best guess" would be a Brown-Headed Cowbird.

I think its a female anhinga. I didn't know they got that far north. We have scads of them here in S Florida.

John D - you may be right. Actually I have seen, years ago, an Anhinga in the Princeton, NJ area.

You have a female anhinga going into breeding plumage with the buff neck, the male is black with white feathers on his back and will have a blue ring around his bright red eye in his breeding plumage. seagull

Well, it's not a seagull, seagull. (I know, pretty lame.) I have no idea (obviously :lol: ).

It appears to be a rear view of a Anhinga. Can't see the face in your picture but I have enclosed one for you.
