An IPhone shot of a bowl I am turning on the lathe.
All automatic settings and this is just to show another Hog what I was doing last night.
Roughly 4.5 inches across and 4.25 inches deep.
Still a work in progress but getting closer to what I see in my mind.
;o)

Gorgeous bowl! What kind of wood do you use?

Thank you very much.
This is Alligator Juniper and is the first bowl of this size I have tried. I picked it for the large knot knowing it would open up when I turned it. Clear coat once I have the final cuts complete and sanded out will highlight the color swirls.

Outstanding! You have many talents. The "alligator" is outstanding. Please do a follow-up when it's finished. I'm sure it will be an outstanding piece of art.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much and I will do that assuming I don't blow it apart while cutting it out a little thinner and smoother on the inside.

Pretty Pit by the way.

When I saw the post title I thought this was going to have something to do with college football.

Cool looking wood.

Very nice bowl. Did you turn it wet or after it was dried? If when wet, any suggestions of how to do it and then to dry it so it does not crack? I tried a piece of walnut when it was wet and had problems with the tools grabbing. I am still very new at turning. John

Thank you very much. It is very dry and is really giving me fine powder shavings. I haven't turned wet wood yet but I have an apple tree that I felled this fall that I plan to turn a bowl from while its still wet. I have only been turning for a year and mostly pens. This is the first large bowl that I have done.
