I saw this insect on the wall outside my backdoor and decided to shot it with my Nikon D600 w/ Nikon 24-85mm Micro Lens,
Auto setting, I did shoot more manuals but they didn't come out right.
ISO 400
f/6.3

Looks great in download. The shadow is super. Textured wall adds interest too. Neat shot.

Agree with Linda. Download a must to see the great detail. Looks like a katydid (?).

Thank you Donna, not sure what it is, some type of hopper. It's only 1/2" in length.

Neat shot! It's a female tree cricket, probably Oecanthus fultoni (the real 'Snowy')or possibly O. californica (California) -- can't tell if it's basically green (first) or tan with a bare hint of green (second). If you knew the song, it'd be easier (a chirp or trill). There are two other possibilities in CA as well, but O. quadripunctatus is green with four antennal spots. Don't remember the fourth (tan one)right now.

Thank you very much for the Info on my mystery insect. I knew you could come through.
Yes I do live 10 miles form the beach and he got blown in by the strong SE winds we just had.
Have not seen or heard them before yesterday.
He is a green w/ a hint of tan on a greenish-blue wall in the bright sunlight, no flash. The colors are washed out because of the Setting Sun. I do not see 4 anteni.
