Turing Final is nice suggestion for a title! Now is it good enough?!! Why do you ask do you have better ones? Are you holding out on us? (Just kidding!!)

Ok, is it me or is the focus slightly off? Motion blur? To my eyes the bird is not in crisp focus. Maybe it's my old eyes.

This one was the other photo I was considering for entry. I am allowed to enter two photos....thoughts?

Very nice. You should enter the contest; if only for the experience. Have you entered any contests before? Not that I have much experience nor skill; however, I've mustered up enough confidence to enter two annual contests within the last two years. A couple of them were selected from my local area and advanced to regional, which is more than I ever expected. I looked at previous winning photos, not to copy, but to get ideas on how to do something different that's been represented. I think you have a great photo. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

This would be my first contest. I have only been photographing birds in flight for less than a year.

I am being encouraged to enter a photo of mine in a Bald Eagle photo contest. I am a bit hesitant and would like the opinion of my fellow hedgehoggers. Do you think this photo is good enough for a contest? Also, would you recommend any further post processing? Feel free to add any recommended edits.

Thanks

The capture is top notch, having said that - behind and to the left of the eagle are what look like dust spots. If you can they should be cleaned up before submitting.

I put it through Topaz Detail3 to enhance and sharpen. Then Lightroom 'Spot Removal' to remove all the water spots on the window you shot through?
Spent 15 min and I think it cleaned up OK. Just a beginning.
You have a Fantastic once in a lifetime shot to start with.
Good luck with you Contest.

Those were water droplets from the eagle. There are no dust spots on my lens and no windows shooting through.

Thanks everyone I appreciate all of the kind remarks and advice

I am really sorry Mark about that. It does make since they were all round the Eagle and not the upper right in the frame.

When I first downloaded the picture, I had to take a double look just to make sure. :)

It is, according to the rules, they say only has to be taken by me in the past 2 years at Conowingo dam, and cannot have any watermarks.

Anyone that wants to do some edits is more than welcome.

Here's my take on it, Mark.

I think you photo makes the grade for content but a little PP will help. Look at this link. The guy that shot those pics is always at Conowingo as well as many other regulars. They constantly post high quality pics of the eagles in action there. I think your photo meets the same standards.

I wouldn't change a thing to crop color or brightness. I would clean up white specs in background. You have a lot of them and a couple on bottom of eagle. Enter piece and hope you do well and if not hope to get feed back for future contests.

Looks just fine to me Mark...as has been said, pity the crop is so tight (or if full frame close to the edges)
The water drops are fine but maybe clone out some of the bright spots which are all though the back ground.
This is pretty rough but you see what I mean
Excellent sharp shot though...

Sorry never crossed my mind as being water spots. I would still remove them.

Beautifully done. If you brighten it only do a slight amount. I would delete the object in it's talon. It is unclear what that is. Other wise you have a great shot. Don

I wouldn't tamper with this elegant capture Mark. If I saw this in a competition I might withdraw any one of mine. Very very nice lines and details in the download are superb!
