Hi Singing Swan

Thank you Gary, I only had 2 min to shoot this in a break in the clouds then it really socked in. Next time I'll use my Teleconverter(s).
Craig
PS I am in love with this Lens. It will take a while to learn it.

Thanks for that little extra!! I'm so tickled when I manage a decent moon shot or a faraway bird....planets are just one of those things I'll dream about and watch for your shots!!!

Yes, the shot of Jupiter with the Moons is completely washed out, the only way to get the Moons. I wonder if someone knows how to get the exposure for Jupiter and the moons right in the same shot??? Something to do with Masks maybe?

What I do is shoot for moons and then shoot for Jupiter.
Clone the Jupiter clean shot into the moon shoot slightly brought down and you have a passible shot of both.
Just too much difference in the intensity of the planet wanting to wash out the moons if exposed properly.

Clone the Jupiter clean shot into the moon shoot. Can that be done in LR or PS?

Layers, I'd bet. Stacking, maybe....I know the concepts and the results folks get...... but knowing the fifty cent words is the extent of my knowledge there.

I open both in Photoshop and do a circle clone stamp just outside what I want and center over the over bright Jupiter. A couple of clicks with the mouse and you have a clean planet with moons where they should be. It's pretty easy and gives a reasonable result.

Thank you DL, and they were such hurried shots to beat the clouds I'm amazed they came out at all.
