Shutter Count??

I never thought of a shuttle count until I read it here. So, I have a Nikon D7000. More and more it seems I want to fire off a shot, the AF is good, but nothing happens. I turn the camera to something else, let it AF, then go back and try the shot again. After the AF the shot generally goes off.
Should I be concerned about a shutter count, how to I check it, (I tried the link someone had posted before but got no where) or is this just another sign of operator error??

The Nikon's place an image number within the EXIF info on every frame....

You can go thru the motions to upload to a site that shows you the shutter count, OR, look at the EXIF data on your image.... It stands right out clearly.

See image below: 6th line up from the bottom IMAGE NUMBER:

ok, that worked. Is 16426 a high shutter count? Could I have some other issue that keeps my shutter from operating every time?? My last shoot it happened 4 or 5 times, taking about 250 photos.

16k is not high at all....
If your shot is not in focus, shutter will not fire depending on what your mode is.

16,000 count is hardly used. Ensure you don't have your timer on or some other setting. Post a picure with your camera exif and someone will figure it out.

Do you have it set to focus priority or release priority?

Check your manual and menu......it makes a difference.

I don't think you should be concerned with shutter count yet. The shutters on the D7000 is good for 100,000 activations. You should check to see if you have the current software though.

Could you please identify the software you used to obtain this very complete EXIF report?

That was from the built in PREVIEW app on a Mac.

EXIFTOOL will provide much much more info.

I want to thank everyone who helped with my shutter count question. I am amazed at the number of people who jumped in to help with my question. And, the number of photos submitted for the portrait contest, the different styles, the ideas, lighting, fantastic! I have learned so much and gotten some great ideas for future shots.
Thank you to everyone, that you for the administration of this site!! You have al helped me be a better photographer.
