Ahhh, Nikonian is right and beat me to the punch. Sufficient depth of field is a constant challenge with close-ups of these guys. They are very cool when photographed well.

Thanks. I wish I could have taken a few more photos of this beautiful flower. I didn't do it justice for how nice it really looks.

Lets talk about your image a bit.
First, the darkest colored part of your subject is in shade and the lightest colored part is in full sun. Your subject exceeds the dynamic range of your camera sensor.
Second, you chose a relatively large aperture, resulting in a fairly narrow Depth of Field, resulting in the flower stamen falling outside of your DoF.

I hand-hold photograph lots of flowers in the field, and have learned to provide my own speedlight illumination to allow: short shutter duration (steady image); low ISO (better resolution); smaller aperture (deeper DoF); and mixing speedlight with available light actually decreases the dynamic range of the scene (better exposure of highlights + shadow areas).
I typically shoot at ISO 200, 1/200-sec at f/16.

Here is your Exif info:
Camera Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi
Image Date: 2011-04-23
Focal Length: 152.0mm
Aperture: f/7.1
Exposure Time: 0.0025 s (1/400-sec)
ISO equiv: 400
Exposure Bias: none
Metering Mode: Matrix
Exposure: program (Auto)
White Balance: Auto
Flash Fired: No
