Funny how the "Military" takes on a "Political" stance even in the heat of battle. I presume this a failing of being human.
Thanks again for this thread. My poor health takes second place to my adventures with you!!!!
I guess every profession has participants whose ambitions become so self-centered that they focus only on their own "success." Meanwhile, I'm glad if my little vignettes keep you interested, Nairiam. Hang in there!

I'd say no. But from what I understand General Patton had wanted to fight the Russians even before that point. Not sure why you posted this. It is far removed from photography. Though interesting as it expands on a part of history I was not fully so aware of. I've been more interested in the Japanese - American portion of WWII. Several reasons for that. Wow, you know what the big controversial questions are there? Actually two in my mind. One at the beginning and one at the end. I am not suggesting an actual discussion here.

Just a note to those concerned "citizens" here :
If this thread should go "south" it will automatically be moved to the Attic by the next available UHH God on duty at the time!

Nobody can predict at it's inception when a thread turns sour !

I received a PM from Admin. called "New Section: The Attic." I assumed since I received it, everyone did.
Your assumption was wrong, the email was not sent to everyone.

Perhaps if a contribution threatens the thread to go "south", it might be a solution to mark the contribution as having been transferred to the Attic for those still interested in viewing it, instead of exiling the whole thread to the Attic just because of one hot-tempered "contributor".

It certainly seems to be a fair assumption. Why would administration send a general notice to some and not others?

Thank you, BamaTexan. I don't want to offend anybody with these postings, but history involving events of war can stir the emotions of people. I try to blend in appropriate photos as well, some by me and some from the public domain, so photography is part of the story. I'd like to continue providing what I think are interesting vignettes of a neglected period, but I'm sure there are folks who would rather those events stayed neglected. To paraphrase Patton -- every kind of writing except defensive!
Yeah Mate, keep your knickers smooth.
