Yes, indeed searcher, knowing the basics is important you teach in these forums without the students realizing they are taking a course. They learn spoonful at a time.
Having come from sweet 16 days we developed a calibrated eye and auto setting was a brain finger response little actual conscious thinking with manual f, speed, focus. Always shot the same slide ASA 25 fast film until 400 came along.
But, I will say, that the auto setting on new cameras are what is the best shoot-quick-from-hip setting. If one has time, yes of course use the brain/finger method eventually they become automated in our being.
Again thank you for the table and instructions, George Eastman would have hired you to do a monograph on exposure.

Thank you Searcher. I've printed it and will use it in my quest to take better pictures and better understand how it's done. Thanks again for another contribution to my ongoing education!

Thanks a lot. Would you mind if I borrowed that (and give you credit) for when I'm teaching as well?

Use it if it is helpful. Don't need Credit, no-one outside of the Hog has ever heard of me as Searcher.

Maybe not, but I've sure learned a lot from you in the Post Processing section. I'd sure like to give credit where it is due. If you want to PM me your name, I can print it right on the card.
