Last year I purchased a Fuji 900EXR has a 20x zoom.
Great pictures; reasonable price.
Can carry it in your pocket.
Get the sony rx100 iii. You will be glad you did. Nothing touches it yet for what you need. Read any review and then try it.
i normally shoot Canon, but have recently purchased the Fujifilm X100s. i love it and i am sure if i had waited until the end of October i would have purchased the X100T. i went on a trip to Oaxaca, MX in the middle of October so could not wait for the X100T. please feel free to visit my flickr page -
www.flickr.com/photo/jeff_lantz_images to view some of my X100s images. if you are on flickr you can also go to the "group sites" specifically for people who shoot Fujifilm, sony, canon and other similar cameras. these sites allow people to see several images using all of these great cameras. you also can go on the internet to get professional analysis of the individual cameras. though i still shoot Canon and Mamiya, i would recommend the X100T. ps i also loved the sony RX7, but could not afford the difference. good luck. jeff lantz

I have a panasonic lumix ts5 which I carry everyday in my pants pocket takes wonderful pictures, has numerous menu options like filter effects and picture qualities, does wi-fi and is built very rugged and can take a water dunk. Its not a dslr but I can carry it anywhere in a pocket and still get some pretty darn nice pictures when the big lens is not handy.
Actually, if you don't take a lot of lenses, the 6D can be the perfect travel camera, especially paired with the new 16-35 F4. It is light and almost "sees in the dark." The 16-35 is a very sharp lens even in poor lighting conditions. Most of what interests a lot of people in European cities includes churches, interiors, exterior street scenes, extremely large building, etc. The ideal lens for that is wide, much wider than 24. A lot of places in Europe won't allow flash or tripods. The last time I was in Europe, I also had a Sony RX-10, which is a terrific travel camera, with me, but I really didn't use it much, since the 6D with the 16-35 was so much better. I also have a Sony rx100 that I use in areas that are a little iffy where you don't want people to know you have a camera, which I would recommend as a great travel camera too. The 6D is really unique as a small, light weight full frame camera that is easy to use in a lot of different situations including low light. I have acquired the Sonys over the years and loved having them when I used them, but some of the newer cameras from Panasonic might be terrific too. One of my best old travel cameras that still takes great pictures was a Panasonic zs7.

Went to your flickr link and was told "This is not the site you were looking for." Whassup? I'd like to see some x100s shots. I'm thinking of taking it or an x-e1 I just bought for a January trip to Indonesia.
I am extremely happy with my Sony a6000. I have an 18-200 lens that I carried all over Europe in my purse. It was fabulous. If you have the money I would look at the A7 or 7s. But for compact and quality pictures Sony is fabulous.
Happy hunting.
I recently got the a7s and some lens. This camera with
the Zeiss 55mm 1.8 is great. Small enough to fit in a very
small bag or briefcase. This over sensitive gem was built for video is world class in low light. And video is what I had in mind.
Shooting some stills of people to put into a job I found the 12 mgpx stills with this super sensor are great. So I can rig this up
with a monitor and stabilizer for video or just use it as a walk around art lens camera. Amazing. Very good bokeh.
PS bought a very cheap Rokinon cine wide 24 1.5 and
it is great on this camera for video and surprise stills.
You asked if anyone had experience with a Fuji. The FujiX100s was the only camera I took on a three week trip to Europe a year ago. Did not miss my Nikon d7000! I damaged the Fuji (water...the insurance paid me) and bought the FujiX-E2, with the 18-55 lens. I used only the X-E2 for a trip to Croatia last month. Loved the ability to upload the photos to my phone! I have the FujiX100T on order. I leave a telephoto on my Nikon for bird and moon shots from home. I will take the Nikon on a road trip...but never on a vacation type trip. We hike often, and to think I used to carry my heavy Nikon! My Fuji is ALWAYS with me!!! Love the look, feel, and results!
I get to Europe quite often, Paris mostly. And because I use public transport (or walking) almost exclusively, I try to travel as light as I can. So my Canon bodies and nice glass stays home. For the last few trips I used a Canon G12, then a Canon G15. They were fine, but Ive wanted something that would reach out further than 5x. My loyalty to Canon runs deep, but I realized that I'd have to go further afield to get what I really wanted. My current choice is a Lumix DMC-ZS40. 30x (28 - 720 mm), 18 MP, electronic viewfinder (small but useable; I don't do well w/o a viewfinder of some sort), RAW + JPEG, integral flash, exposure compensation, ISO to 12800, less than 8 oz.). I looked at a Canon SX60, but there's no way I could get it into my backpack (I have to leave a lot out to make room for my CPAP/mask/tube and my tripod).
I traveled to Key west in August, bought the sx50hs just for the trip ,as long as lighting was decent I absolutely loved this camera. It covered everything and did all I asked. Didn't even miss my 5d mkiii and L's

I am looking to purchase a good travel camera. Something smaller, lighter and probably without interchangeable lens capability.
I'm considering looking at something like the Fuji X100T or the Canon SX60. (I'm not saying these are my two choices.....I'm just using these as examples).
I think these represent two widely different approaches (and prices).
Does anyone have experience traveling with these two types of cameras? If so....were you satisfied with the fixed focal lenght of the Fuji type?

I am always looking at the Sony RX10 and Canon G1X II - not cheap, and not 4/3rds, but very high quality none the less and with good rangeing fast lenses.
