LOL. After all it was their language first; UK vs US. We do have some spelling differences.

That has to be a great chat up line. "Excuse me but you're looking very callipygian". "What?". "Look here's my card, I'll write it on the back. Look it up and get back to me". That has to be an opening line.

Have you heard that word pronounced? Doesn't sound flattery at all...

and callipygous sounds like a disease.

Bangee, you know that I will always respect your opinion, even though I don't agree with you on 99% of the stuff discussed here. But even you with your christian views, have to appreciate a nice arse when you see one.

There always is something to be learnt with new words.Besides they not only enrich the language by themselves, but by their derivatives as well. Imagine how much more elegant is talking about callypigianism instead of nice-assism :-)

Of course! My Ex-wife had one... once. I would most like get my face slapped of I told her that her derriere was callipygian.

The music for " Danny Boy " is taken from the " Londonderry Air ". It's commonly pronounced " London Derriere ".

I think that was Lincoln, wasn't it? Although Mark Twain could have also said that somewhere.

In England I think it is learnt. You have to remember that American and British English are close to being two different languages.

So do I have chronic callipygianitis (only fatal if the spouse finds out) or obsessive compulsive callipygianosis?

I don't know. It just sounded like something Mark Twain would have said.
